Dexter — The City Council adopted the fiscal year 2026–27 General Appropriations resolution, finalizing the budget after several workshops and preserving the current millage rate.
Councilor Ray moved to adopt the resolution and the motion was seconded. Justin (City Manager) described the document as the culmination of work that began in January and stressed that the budget is a planning document that can be adjusted if priorities change. "A budget is a planning document," Justin said, "we could change it if we decide the priorities change...but it's important to have a budget and I'm proud of the fact that we enter our fiscal year with a budget that we can work off of as a team." The resolution and supporting schedules (pages 146–153) were adopted on a roll-call vote.
The council thanked staff for their work on water, sewer, trash fee updates and noted that the fee schedule was updated separately with the false-alarm fee pending further ordinance work.
Outcome: The FY 2026–27 budget is adopted and staff will proceed with implementation and monitoring throughout the fiscal year.
