A unanimous Planning Board on Feb. 26 approved a Conditional Use Permit allowing homeowner Jeffrey Sladen to raise the existing structure at 78 West 5th Street to add a full foundation and garage and to remove and rebuild a smaller deck.
Deborah Randall told the board the project will reduce deck and ground cover and that an on-site review indicated 0–3 trees would need to be removed. She noted deed language documents a right of way between Mr. Sladen and his immediate neighbor; she said she did not know whether similar language appears in other abutters’ deeds. Chairperson Jon Morse said the construction team must restore the road to its prior condition when work is finished.
Mark Cahoon moved to approve the Conditional Use Permit; Mark Reed seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
