Selectman flags Day Street options and potential ambulance outsourcing; Housing Authority bid opening scheduled

Selectman Joe Bellavance told the Board of Finance on April 15 that the Board of Selectmen continues work on the town budget and highlighted several items for follow-up.
Bellavance said the Day Street project — for which there are three options — will be discussed at the Fire Commissioners’ April 28 meeting so the town can decide which option to pursue. On ambulance service, board member Dave Lee reported that the Mortlake Fire Company presented a plan to outsource ambulance operations to American Ambulance, likely effective Oct. 1 depending on budget approvals. Lee said Mortlake would request about $100,000 in its ambulance budget to pay American Ambulance and that Mortlake would otherwise be out of the ambulance service.
Liaison reports also covered the WPCA working to finalize its budget, the Building Committee awaiting confirmation on interim financing and state grant qualification, and a Housing Authority meeting on April 22 at 4 p.m. to open bids for management of Quebec Square and Upper Village. The America 250 Committee has held events and members asked the public to help spread the word about future activities.
No public comments were made during the meeting. The board scheduled additional budget review meetings for April 21 and April 22.
