Resident raises rat-control and food-pantry updates at Select Board meeting

At the Feb. 17 Select Board meeting, Rebecca Reed told the board about a rat problem around Town Hall and asked whether the exterminator uses second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs). Dwayne Morin said he was unsure but believed Green Pest, the vendor the town uses, does not employ pesticides or poisons; he said he would investigate and report back.
Reed also updated the board on the North Berwick Food Pantry, saying the pantry has hired a full-time manager who is currently in training and highlighted an active partnership with Mary Hurd School to provide student community-service opportunities and teach life skills. Board members did not record further action on either the extermination question or the pantry update; staff follow-up on the pesticide question was requested.
