Duchesne County commissioners on June 22 extended a lobbying and consulting agreement related to a rail project and approved a Main Street Matching Grant for a local business.
Commissioner Greg Miles explained the proposed extension with consultant Allen Freemyer for the rail project, at $2,500 for the remainder of June and $5,000 per month through Dec. 31, 2026. Commissioner Tracy Killian moved to extend the contract and authorize the chair to sign; Commissioner Jeff Chugg seconded the motion and the panel voted to approve the extension.
Economic Development Director Kori Wilde presented a Main Street Matching Grant application from Nourish requesting $10,000 to support store upgrades and increased revenues. Commissioner Jeff Chugg moved to approve the Nourish application for $10,000; Commissioner Killian seconded and the commission approved the grant as presented.
Commissioners discussed budget sources for the lobbying contract during the presentation but did not change terms at the meeting.
