Canaan committee re-submits compactor RFP to DECD, finalizes food-waste container site

The Town of Canaan STEAP Implementation Committee said on May 13 that it re-submitted the request for proposals for a trash compactor to the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and finalized a site for a municipal food-waste container, with preparations to install a concrete pad and order louvres.

The update was reported as part of a special meeting convened at 4:08 p.m. at Town Hall in Falls Village. Committee members present were Eileen Kinsella, Greg Marlowe and Chris Wadsworth; Chris Kinsella was listed as Selectman. The members unanimously approved the minutes from the committee's May 6 special meeting after a motion by Greg Marlowe and a second by Chris Wadsworth.

Committee members indicated the compactor RFP has been re-submitted to DECD for review and that the site selection for the town's food-waste container is complete. The committee said it will proceed to have a concrete pad completed at the site and will order louvres for the container, steps described as the next implementation tasks.

Other agenda items were deferred: discussion of repairs or decisions related to the Senior Center/Assessor's roof and the salt shed/water grease separator were tabled without action. Members also noted that pressure washing of the pavilion pool house is ongoing.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Marlowe, seconded by Wadsworth; the meeting adjourned at 5:17 p.m. The minutes for this meeting were recorded and signed "Respectfully submitted, Eileen Kinsella."
