Principal reports gains in grades 4–8 I-Ready and DIBELS scores; PSAT slightly below state average

Principal Shaver presented the district's winter assessment summary to the board on Feb. 9, reporting improvements on both I-Ready and DIBELS measures for grades 4–8.
Shaver said the percentage of students two or more grade levels below (the "red" band) in 6th-grade reading fell from 59% to 41%, while the share of 4th graders at or above grade level in reading (the "green" band) rose from 22% to 33%. In math, Shaver reported the 5th-grade cohort moved from 19% at or above grade level to 35%.
DIBELS growth percentages for the winter assessment were reported as: 4th grade 100%, 5th grade 98%, 6th grade 95%, 7th grade 98% and 8th grade 97%. Shaver also noted the district's average PSAT score was 385, compared with a reported state average of 391.
Board members heard the data but the minutes record no formal action tied to the presentation. The superintendent and administrators will include assessment results in regular reporting to the board.
