Residents used the public-comment period at the Aug. 4 Caseville City Council meeting to raise several local concerns, including an allegation about harbor meeting notice, a reported taste to household water and worries about trolley safety.
Michael Muscat asked about the Harbor minutes and alleged the Harbor board "held an unposted meeting," asking the council to address the records. The minutes do not show a Harbor representative responding to that allegation.
James Smith told the council he had noticed a taste to his water and raised safety concerns about the municipal trolley, saying it "pulled out in front of him." Chief Deborah Hopkins said there have been "multiple complaints about the trolley." No water-sampling results or follow-up steps on water quality were recorded in the minutes.
Other public commenters addressed varied topics: Commissioner Scott Maust distributed a flyer and spoke about the Huron County Fair and a September seminar on EV charging costs; Wendy Waldrep said her family charges electric vehicles from a home outlet and asked about a letter neighbors received regarding garbage bins in the right-of-way; Tom Paul said he uses a wheeled trash cage; and Louis Johnson asked about a road construction sign on Main Street by Oak Street.
Council members did not take formal action on the public-comment items during the meeting. The mayor and council accepted public comment as part of the agenda and the meeting proceeded to other business.
