At its Nov. 10 meeting in Caseville City Hall, the Caseville City Council appointed Darin Sprague as mayor pro tem, confirmed multiple planning and zoning board members and approved invoices totaling $256,958.32 and a $29,780 mosquito-control contract.
The actions came during a meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor Pro Tem Darin Sprague and attended by council members Jason Krueger, Jacob Kretzschmer, Jeff Hervert, Dawn Talaski and John Tait; Mayor Christopher Stahl was absent. The council voted to set the agenda and to approve the Oct. 13 minutes before taking up resolutions and appointments.
Votes at a glance: Resolution #2025-58 approved invoices paid through Nov. 6, 2025 totaling $256,958.32 (roll call 5-0). Resolution #2025-59 approved a 2026 mosquito contract for $29,780 (5-0). Resolution #2025-60 adopted a check-signing policy (5-0). Resolution #2025-61 reverted payroll to weekly in 2026 (5-0). The council also approved a council committee list (5-0).
Appointments: The council appointed Darin Sprague as mayor pro tem (motion by John Tait, second by Jeff Hervert; 5-0). Michael Power was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a term ending July 2027 (5-0). Kenneth Rathje was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals (term to July 2028) and to the Planning Commission (term to Sept. 2028) (motions carried 5-0). Jerald Ignash was appointed to the Planning Commission for a term ending Sept. 2028 (5-0). Jason Krueger was named the council ex‑officio to the Zoning Board of Appeals and recorded a 4-0 vote on his own ex‑officio appointment (Krueger abstained). Dawn Talaski was named ex‑officio to the Planning Commission and the vote was recorded 4-0 with Talaski abstaining on her own ex‑officio appointment.
Police Chief Deborah Hopkins reported the town marathon drew "over 300 runners and they had no problems in town." City Manager Jamie Learman told the council there was a good turnout at the election and thanked workers and candidates.
The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m. on a motion by John Tait, seconded by Jeff Hervert (5-0).
