Principal Manzullo presented winter diagnostic results for the district’s lower elementary grades during the Jan. 12 board meeting, reporting measurable gains from fall to winter and comparisons to national norms.
Manzullo said I‑Ready diagnostics show reading: a 28 percentage‑point increase in students on grade level, and reductions in students two or more levels below grade by 13 percentage points. In math, on‑grade‑level rates rose by 24 percentage points, and students two or more levels below grade decreased by 10 percentage points. Manzullo also gave grade‑level comparisons to national norms: kindergarten 42% above in reading and 28% above in math; first grade 42% above reading and 34% above math; second grade 52% above reading and 44% above math; third grade 44% above reading and 54% above math. Manzullo said spring diagnostics and M‑STEP results will be available around May–June.
Superintendent Sattler later praised Principal Manzullo and teaching staff for the gains. The board did not take formal action on the presentation; it was provided for information and planning.
