Troy Hartz, the Caseville Department of Public Works supervisor, told the council on June 9 that engineers are finalizing the city's water study. Hartz said the force-main project should be wrapping up in a couple of weeks, crews started installing sewer pumps that day, and planned street paving has been pushed back to mid-July.
In public comment, Scott Maust said the harbor remains a safe harbor but that Army Corps of Engineers funding for dredging is unlikely this year; he said spring sampling was conducted and that an $800,000 figure referenced in local coverage concerns a study to determine the need for a second breakwater wall rather than immediate dredging.
The council recorded these infrastructure updates and received written reports from several advisory bodies, including the Zoning Administrator, the Caseville Downtown Development Authority, the Caseville Harbor Commission and the Advisory Water Board. No formal action to alter project timelines or request additional funding was taken at the meeting.
