Caseville council adopts FY 2026 budget, sets general operating millage at 16.075 mils

The Caseville City Council adopted the city's FY 2026 budget and set the general operating millage at 16.0750 mils during its June 9 meeting at Caseville City Hall.
City Manager Jamie Learman reviewed changes in the proposed FY 2026 budget compared with FY 2025 before the council opened a public hearing on the measure. After public comment and no correspondence at the hearing, the council closed the hearing and moved to routine and new business.
By roll-call vote the council approved Resolution #2025-33 to adopt the FY 2026 budget and set the general operating millage at 16.0750 mils (vote 6-0). The council also accepted the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) budget for FY 2026 and set the DDA general operation millage at 1.4326 mils (Resolution #2025-34, 6-0).
The council approved several related financial and administrative items in the same meeting. Resolution #2025-30 amended the FY 2025 budget as presented (roll call 5-0 when considered); Resolution #2025-31 approved invoices paid through June 5, 2025 totaling $814,966.51 (roll call 6-0).
Other votes included renewing liability, property and vehicle insurance with EMC Insurance at a total annual cost of $80,801 (Resolution #2025-35, 6-0) and approving an audit engagement letter with Nietzke & Faupel, P.C. for the FY 2025 audit at a cost not to exceed $19,500 (Resolution #2025-36, 6-0). The council also adopted the FY 2026 fee schedule as presented (Resolution #2025-32, roll call 6-0).
Council members who moved and seconded the final budget motion were recorded in the roll-call vote; the meeting minutes list motions and seconders for each item. The meeting packet included the budget documents and the fee schedule that the council adopted.
The council adjourned at 6:20 p.m.; the FY 2026 budget and related measures take effect according to standard municipal procedures unless otherwise noted in the adopted documents.
