Caseville schedules June public hearings for DDA and city budgets, proposes millage rates

The Caseville City Council on May 12 accepted preliminary budgets for the Downtown Development Authority and the city and scheduled public hearings on June 9, 2025, where residents can comment on proposed millage rates.
City Manager Jamie Learman presented the preliminary FY2026 budget materials to the council, which the council voted to accept for public review. By roll-call votes, the council approved Resolution #2025-27 to set a DDA public hearing at 5:15 p.m. and proposed an ad valorem DDA millage of 1.4326 mils, and Resolution #2025-28 to set the city budget hearing at 5:30 p.m. and propose a General Operation millage of 16.0750 mils. Both resolutions passed 5-0.
Council members said the hearings will allow residents to review proposed spending and tax impacts before final adoption. Councilmember Kenneth Rathje participated in the rollover votes approving both resolutions.
The council also approved, earlier in the meeting, Resolution #2025-26 to pay invoices presented through May 8, 2025, totaling $556,532.21 (roll call vote 5-0). The invoice approval does not finalize the FY2026 budget but clears outstanding payables listed for this period.
The DDA hearing is scheduled for June 9 at 5:15 p.m., and the city budget hearing will follow at 5:30 p.m. The council will consider public comment before any final adoption of the FY2026 millage rates and budgets.
