Caseville council approves 2025 event calendar, conditional street closures

Council members approved the 1st Annual Caseville/Saginaw Bay Power Boat Run for Aug. 22–24, Market on Main on Saturdays from May 24 through Oct. 4 (with Pine Street closed only as needed for extra vendor space), Trash & Treasure Days May 22–26, Cruise Night on May 31, the Caseville Country Ribstock Festival June 27–29, fireworks on July 5, Cheeseburger in Caseville Aug. 8–17, the Pumpkin Festival on Sept. 20 and the Witches Walk on Oct. 25. The motions carried largely by unanimous roll call votes; the Witches Walk street-closure motion passed 5-1 with Councilmember Kenneth Rathje recording the lone nay vote.
The approvals included limited waivers and vendor exceptions: organizers received relief from certain vendor fees for the Power Boat Run, and the Market on Main approval explicitly allows Pine Street to be closed "only when additional vending spaces are needed," as the council recorded. The council also exempted specific vendors (American Custom Marine–Kimball) from vendor fees to sell event merchandise.
Council discussion on the agenda was procedural; no substantive conditions beyond the stated waivers and the single street-closure dissent were raised in the record. The decisions were made by motions from councilmembers and recorded roll-call approvals as part of the council’s new-business consent actions.
The council’s approvals leave event logistics—like exact street-closure timing, vendor placement and any further permits—to staff and the Ordinance Committee, which will also receive a referral related to a separate request from Tiffany Ofeimu seeking an alcohol exemption for bike tours and similar attractions.
Adjournment followed public comment and routine motions; the meeting ended at 6:05 p.m.
