Carman-Ainsworth board approves minutes, finances, hires and moves into executive session on superintendent evaluation

At its Aug. 12 meeting the Carman-Ainsworth Board of Education approved routine consent items, accepted personnel resignations, authorized offers of contracts for multiple certificated staff for the 2025–2026 school year, appointed fall coaches contingent on participation, and voted to go into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation.

Motions and roll-call votes recorded in the minutes include adding an executive-session item to the agenda (motion by Gary Cousins, supported by Lisa Koegel; Ayes: Cousins, Gleason-Gidcumb, Johnson, Koegel, Nealy, Wilborn; Nays: none; Absent: Handy). The board dispensed with reading the July 8 and July 22 minutes and approved them (motion by Koegel, supported by Johnson); the Treasurer's Report and authorization to pay bills across multiple funds was approved (motion by Cousins, supported by Gleason-Gidcumb). The minutes list fund totals: General Fund $2,884,627.78; Food Service $12,403.79; Community Education $11,876.53; Grand Total $2,909,266.01; Capital Projects checks totaled $844,699.62. Payroll entries for June 6 and June 20 are recorded.

Personnel motions carried unanimously to accept resignations and to approve conditional offers of employment for a set of listed teachers and staff. The board also approved Schedule B fall coaching appointments, contingent on minimum team participation. Later in the meeting, the board voted to adjourn to executive session at 7:14 p.m. to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation; the executive session reconvened at 7:17 p.m. and the meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
