Carleton council approves $652,992.64 in bills, hears sewer project updates and OKs Rotary parade

The Village of Carleton council on Nov. 5 approved payment of $652,992.64 in bills by a recorded roll-call vote (Klavon, Geiermann, Burkardt, Pernicano, Stolkey — all yes). The motion was recorded as moved by Burkardt and supported by Klavon; minutes list the vote tally and indicate the motion carried.
During old-business updates, Stewart Beach of Fleis & VandenBrink reported no power interruptions at the village wastewater treatment plant, installation of new equipment and new safety equipment, and that a punch list is being prepared; a plant tour was planned after work completion. Dan Cabage stated that work should be finished before Thanksgiving. Separately, Village Engineer Jim Hollandsworth, representing Hennessey Engineers, reported that the sewer lining project is complete and that restoration work (grading and grass seeding) remains to be finished.
Under correspondence, the council approved a Carleton Rotary request to hold the "Santa Comes to Town" Christmas parade on Dec. 14, 2024; Trustee Klavon moved the approval and Trustee Pernicano seconded it. Klavon also reported that the Department of Public Works has started installing holiday decorations on street poles.
On staffing and operations, council members discussed the village's usual practice of hiring a part-time employee to support DPW during winter months and said candidates are being considered. President Pro Tem Kaczmarek said the village is searching for a company to provide computer services and has contacted four or five firms to date.
No public comment was given during the three-minute public comment period. The council adjourned at 6:53 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2024.
