The Carman-Ainsworth Board of Education on Aug. 12 administered the Oath of Office to student board member SaNiya Wells and presented Academic Hall of Fame and Advanced Placement Scholar recognitions to members of the Class of 2025.
Superintendent Ryan introduced the awards and invited Carman-Ainsworth High School Principal Charles LaClear to describe the two award categories, which are based on students’ grade-point averages, ACT scores and AP or dual-enrollment course results. LaClear said Hall of Fame inductees will have their photographs displayed in the high school’s Academic Hall of Fame corridor.
Awardees named in the minutes were Noor Aftab (Academic Hall of Fame; AP Scholar with Distinction), Kenneth Gocha (Academic Hall of Fame) and Mekhi Thompson (Academic Hall of Fame; AP Scholar). The board recessed briefly at 6:40 p.m. to allow students and parents to leave; there were no public comments following reconvening.
The swearing-in and recognitions were recorded in the official minutes and took place at the Carman-Ainsworth High School Media Center.
