Buckingham credited America Runyan for preparing an organized application packet that helped secure the award; Buckingham read a compliment from Penny Burger, Risk Reduction and Recovery Section Manager for the Michigan State Police: 'Thank you for such an organized packet of information. It makes it so much easier to do a review when it’s this organized.' Buckingham said the village has been awarded $181,297.
In related council comments Buckingham also referenced a Monroe County email notifying the village of intent to submit a Materials Management Plan.
The council did not take any formal action tied to the award at the meeting; next steps and any required matching funds or project scope were not specified in the minutes.
