Carleton hears sewer project updates; WWTP work expected to finish by end of October

Dan Cabage, who presented the sewer plant update at the Carleton Village Council meeting on Aug. 12, said overall wastewater treatment plant operations were 'running very well' but noted that the Grafton Road lift station experienced difficulty during three inches of recent rain and pumps had to be ramped up.
Cabage said he expects the WWTP updates to be completed by the end of October. Mike Vander Ploeg and project contact James Hollandsworth were mentioned in the update; Buckingham confirmed that the sewer-lining contractor should begin next week and that crews are training on new lining equipment.
Separately, the council approved a sewer connection for 14024 Grafton Road in Ash Township on a voice vote. Council directed routine follow-up actions to DPW staff to finalize connection paperwork.
Resident Cindy Lang raised a separate operational concern about DPW vehicles using an alley between Crane and Mathews streets and driving at speed; Buckingham said DPW will scrap and add stone to the alley when it becomes available.
