The Burlington Township Board reviewed a repair estimate for a monument in Abscota Cemetery that was damaged in an auto accident and discussed possible measures to prevent repeat incidents.
The board recorded that a quote from Bobbie Mathis to repair the monument had been submitted and that the cost has been billed to the vehicle owner to forward to their insurance carrier; the repair is pending insurance payment. Members discussed whether to replace the cemetery fence or install a guard rail as a longer-term protective measure.
Supervisor Jeffrey Eyre noted that Kevin Decker, the township’s insurance agent, will attend the November meeting to answer questions about coverage and options. No final decision on fence replacement or guard-rail installation was recorded at the Oct. 10 meeting.
