St. Martinville awards $1.11 million Main Street sidewalk contract to Reliant Industrial Solution

The St. Martinville City Council voted unanimously on Nov. 17 to award the low-bid contract for the Main Street Sidewalk Enhancement Project to Reliant Industrial Solution LLC for $1,107,032.50, contingent on legal confirmation from City Attorney Allan L. Durand that the city is required to award to the lowest responsible bidder.

Councilman Mike Fuselier moved to place the award on the agenda at the mayors request; Councilwoman Janise Anthony seconded the motion, which was described in the minutes as carried unanimously. The minutes record that the award itself was moved by Fuselier and seconded by Anthony and likewise carried unanimously.

Bids for the Main Street project had been opened the preceding Friday, the mayor reported; the minutes do not record the bid process details or an anticipated construction schedule. The award language conditions the contract on a legal review by the city attorney to confirm whether the city is obligated to award to the lowest responsible bidder, and the council did not instruct a construction start date during the meeting.
