The St. Martinville City Council on Oct. 20 introduced Proposed Ordinance No. 25-13, which would authorize the city to claim ownership of adjudicated property under Louisiana Revised Statutes La. R.S. 47:2236 et seq., and set the ordinance for adoption consideration at the council’s Nov. 3, 2025 meeting.
City Attorney Allan L. Durand presented the ordinance title to the council; the minutes record the introduction but do not include the ordinance text or any debate. The council also discussed procedures for cleaning adjudicated properties and agreed to use the website of E&P Consulting Services, LLC to advertise sales of adjudicated parcels.
Separately, council members directed Durand to prepare a separate ordinance prohibiting the discharge of grass clippings on sidewalks, streets and public property. The minutes record the decision to have the city attorney draft that ordinance for future consideration.
Next steps: Ordinance 25-13 will return to the council for formal consideration on Nov. 3, 2025; the minutes do not record the proposed ordinance’s specific terms, potential fiscal impacts, or any public comment. Any sale process for adjudicated property will be advertised via E&P Consulting Services, LLC per the council’s direction.
