Bridgman Corridor Improvement Authority approves North City Limit sign design and bench purchase

The Bridgman Corridor Improvement Authority on Feb. 23 approved a design for a new North City Limit sign and authorized the purchase of benches for the corridor, voting unanimously on both items at City Hall.

Members reviewed two ArtFX designs for the North City Limit sign and agreed on Option 1 as their preferred choice. Members requested that the sign be installed prior to Memorial Day. Member Allen moved to approve Option 1; Member Lucas seconded and the motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

The Authority also approved a staff recommendation to accept a quote from Carson Wood Specialties to provide benches. Member McNeil moved to approve the quote and Member Allen seconded; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote. The transcript records approval of the vendor but does not specify contract amount, delivery dates, or installation responsibilities.

Chair Anderson reviewed the Authority's current financial report during the meeting; no formal questions or follow-up actions were recorded in the minutes. The agenda was amended at the start of the meeting to move two items (8A and 9B) to the March meeting and approved by unanimous voice vote.

In member comments, Anderson said Arcadia is exploring landscaping improvements around the Weko Beach sign and suggested using dune grass for low maintenance; she recommended postponing mural work this year until placement is finalized. Member Lucas noted that Navy Pier features photos of city murals and that the nearby city of Holland has a strong mural presence, citing those as examples for public-art promotion.

The meeting opened at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 5:48 p.m. Present were Members Allen, Lucas, Anderson and McNeil; Members Murphy and Day were absent. Christine Fisher attended as city clerk.
