The Sanac County Board of Commissioners appointed Jeremy Risen to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority for a partial term expiring Dec. 31, 2027, and adopted a resolution honoring Corrections Deputy Jeremy Abel for 27 years of service.
Chair John Block moved the appointment; Commissioner John Moody seconded and the board approved by voice vote. Administrator Nathan and board members discussed a Brownfield-funded multi-use project proposed for Port Sanac (a gym on the lower level with apartments above) that has been approved by the Brownfield group and will go to Port Sanac for local approval; a public hearing before the county board may follow after local action.
The board read and adopted a resolution recognizing Corrections Deputy Jeremy Abel, who began his career Nov. 23, 1997. The resolution highlighted Abel’s service as an inmate work crew supervisor, community coaching and 27 years with the sheriff’s office; the resolution records his retirement effective Feb. 14, 2025. The resolution was adopted by roll-call vote with all commissioners recorded as voting "yes." The board directed staff to present a copy of the resolution to Abel.
No public testimony on these items was recorded at the meeting. Staff were instructed to schedule any required Brownfield public hearing after local approvals and to notify the newly appointed authority member.
