Brandywine Community Schools board approves bond resolution, educator compensation and CTE awards; CTE air‑conditioning plan fails

At its Feb. 23 meeting the Brandywine Community Schools Board approved a resolution to issue 2026 school building bonds, an Act 271 educator compensation package (with one abstention), and CTE addition award recommendations; a proposed CTE Center air‑conditioning project failed 1–5. The Brandywine Community Schools Board of Education approved a package of operational and capital actions at its regular meeting Feb. 23 at Brandywine Innovation Academy.
The board voted to approve a "Resolution Approving Issuance of 2026 School Building and Site Bonds, Series II." Trustee Holly Pomranka moved the resolution with support from Treasurer Charles Schmidt; the motion carried 6–0 on roll call.
On personnel matters, the board approved retirements listed for Lynn Mickiewicz and Paula Vide and approved Act 271 for Educator Compensation as presented. Secretary Amanda Fox moved the compensation measure, supported by Vice President Shannon Daniels. The roll-call vote was recorded as 5–0 with one abstention from Trustee Holly Pomranka; ayes were President Jessica Crouch, Vice President Shannon Daniels, Secretary Amanda Fox, Trustee Michelanne McCombs and Treasurer Charles Schmidt.
In facilities contracting, the board approved CTE Addition Award Recommendations on a motion by Trustee Michelanne McCombs, supported by Treasurer Charles Schmidt; that motion carried 6–0. A separate proposal to add air conditioning to the CTE Center, moved by Trustee Holly Pomranka and supported as recorded, failed with a vote of 1–5.
The meeting also approved a consent agenda that included the Feb. 9, 2026 regular meeting minutes, the 2026–2027 academic calendar, Budget Amendments #1 and #2, and a slate of spring coaching appointments: Varsity Baseball Coach David Sidenbender; Varsity Softball Coach Mike Brumitt; Junior Varsity Softball Coach Jackie Roseburgh; Girls Soccer Coach Caleb Adams; High School Track Coach Terry Borr with assistants Becky Shafer and Brian McNamara; Middle School Track Coaches Rex Pomranka and Drew Markel; Boys Golf Coach Max Douglass; and Girls Tennis Coach Joe Marazita.
Superintendent Travis Walker’s report included PAC nominees and an update on the MEWI initiative; the board also received routine administrator reports. The agenda item for Hearing of Visitors recorded that no individuals addressed the board.
The meeting was called to order by President Jessica Crouch at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
