County board honors three long‑serving public servants with resolutions

The Sanac County Board of Commissioners adopted three resolutions Dec. 17 honoring long‑serving county officials and community leaders.
The board recognized Brenda Sanford on her retirement after more than 26 years of service in the prosecutor’s office, citing roles from assistant prosecutor through chief assistant prosecutor and election as prosecutor in 2021. Sanford addressed the board and said, "it's been an honor," before brief remarks and photographs.
A separate resolution recognized Todd Hillman for more than two decades in Emergency Management. A Michigan State Police regional emergency management coordinator, who identified himself as Barker, praised Hillman’s response work during major incidents and presented a challenge coin to acknowledge his service.
The board also adopted a resolution honoring John Caner for nearly five decades of township and community service, noting his roles as a township supervisor, planning commission member and long service with local agricultural and banking boards. Commissioners invited Caner and his spouse for a photo following the resolution.
Each resolution passed by roll call and the board recessed to subsequent agenda items.
