S County board approves claims, budget changes, personnel postings and routine contracts

The board approved payment of current claims totaling $254,600 for the general account and adopted multiple budget amendments and appropriations. Commissioners also authorized posting and filling of a Friend of the Court attorney-referee position (pay grade 14) and a legal secretary position in the prosecutor’s office (pay grade 4, step 1).
The board approved employment agreements for transportation coordinators in the Department of Veterans Affairs (effective Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2027) and authorized the chairman to sign the agreements. It also authorized disposal of two Sheriff’s Office passenger vans, continuation of a three-year maintenance agreement with Accurate Controls Incorporated for the county jail (amount partially redacted in the record), and a subscription with Lexo for sheriff’s office training at a cost not to exceed $3,245. The board authorized payment of $23,953 to ERG Environmental for a household hazardous waste event from the recycling center millage.
Commissioner Ballard moved most motions on these items, with support recorded from other commissioners; the board approved each item by voice vote. The chair emphasized these items had been fully vetted at the finance meeting before landing on the full-board agenda.
