Board appoints two to Veterans Affairs committee after interviews

The S County Board of Commissioners appointed two members to the Veterans Affairs committee on Nov. 5 after interviewing five candidates.

A former commissioner identified as Justin spoke of community outreach and past board service. Michael Hair sought reappointment and cited past county veterans-service work. Jeffrey Ly described decades of local veterans-service organization involvement. Mark Teal, a lifelong resident and Navy veteran, said he has experience with local civic boards.
The board entered five names into nomination and conducted a ballot. Vote counts announced by the clerk were: Andrew Buc, zero; Michael Hair, one; Jeffrey Ly, five; Mark Teal, four. The board announced that Jeffrey Ly and Mark Teal were appointed to the Veterans Affairs committee.
Chairman John Black congratulated the appointees and thanked all applicants for their service. The board also thanked candidates for attending the meeting and noted their service would be formally recorded.
