Beecher trustees move meetings to 6 p.m., accept FY2023–24 audit and approve routine contracts and expenditures

At their Oct. 28, 2024 meeting the Village of Beecher Board of Trustees approved several administrative and financial measures. The board adopted Ordinance #1412 to change the regular meeting start time from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., effective with the first meeting in December 2024. Trustee Kraus moved to approve the ordinance and Trustee Gardner seconded; the motion passed 6–0.
The board approved payment of a list of bills totaling $145,415.49 and accepted the Fiscal Year 2023–24 audit after an audit presentation by accountant/auditor Jennifer Doss. Trustee Kraus moved to approve payment of bills; Trustee Tieri seconded. Trustee Kraus subsequently moved to accept the audit report and Trustee Stacey seconded; both motions carried unanimously.
Trustees also approved a third amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with SAFEbuilt Illinois not to exceed $10,000 to assist staff with adopting and transitioning to new building codes (motion by Trustee Gardner, seconded by Trustee Diachenko); they approved a Collection Services Agreement with Municipal Collections of America, Inc. (motion by Trustee Tieri, seconded by Trustee Stacey); and they declared a 2012 Cub Cadet lawn tractor surplus and donated it to Beecher Recreation for use at Welton Stedt Park/Jr. High (motion by Trustee Stacey, seconded by Trustee Gardner). All votes recorded were unanimous (6–0).
The board adjourned into executive session at 7:29 p.m. to discuss personnel matters (appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees) and returned at 8:12 p.m.; the meeting adjourned at 8:12 p.m. The minutes record no substantive new business beyond the listed actions.
The meeting also included brief announcements: Clerk Janett McCawley reported on September tax receipts and upcoming April 1, 2025 election filing dates; staff said the village newsletter was mailed and is on the village website; and the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting was scheduled for Dec. 12, 2024.
