The Village of Beecher Board of Trustees voted to approve Ordinance #1411 granting a special-use permit for 759 W. Indiana Avenue to allow a U-Haul rental business in the B-1 Historic Downtown District. Trustee Gardner moved the ordinance and Trustee Kraus seconded; the motion carried 3-1 with Trustee Tieri voting no.
The permit authorizes a U-Haul rental operation at the specified downtown address under the village zoning code’s special-use provisions for the B-1 Historic Downtown District. The measure was brought forward by the Planning, Building and Zoning Committee; the board announced the next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting is scheduled for Sept. 26, 2024 at 7 p.m.
No additional conditions or amendments to the ordinance were recorded in the meeting minutes. The approval allows the applicant to proceed under the terms of the special-use permit and local zoning review processes. The board did not record further debate in the minutes beyond the roll-call vote.
The village clerk recorded the vote as three ayes and one nay; absent trustees were Stacey and Weissbohn. The board took no other formal action on this address during the meeting.
