Beecher Board approves $449,264.37 in bills, awards sidewalk contract and authorizes public‑safety MOU

At its Aug. 26 meeting the Village of Beecher Board of Trustees approved payment of the list of bills and payroll since the last meeting in the amount of $449,264.37. Trustee Kraus moved the payment motion and Trustee Stacey seconded; the vote was unanimous (5–0).
President Meyer’s appointment of Robert Barber to the Planning & Zoning Commission was approved by the Board (5–0). In public works business the Board accepted the lowest responsive bid from K.R.T. Concrete for sidewalk replacement in the amount of $21,600; Trustee Stacey made the motion and Trustee Gardner seconded.
On public safety matters the Board authorized the police chief to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Village of Monee to provide protective personnel and equipment for Monee’s upcoming festival and moving wall event; the motion passed unanimously. The Board also noted community events including a final summer concert on Sept. 7 (Rearview, a Pearl Jam tribute band) and discussed logistical support such as porta‑john placement at Firemen’s Park.
Trustees moved into executive session at 7:48 p.m. to discuss personnel matters and returned at 8:11 p.m.; the minutes record no public action from the executive session. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
