Facilities survey posted; trustees press for broader outreach, driver-education RFP set for release

Facilities staff told the board that the master facilities-plan survey has been finalized and posted online but that early participation numbers were low.
Trustee Rocket Martin called the initial response insufficient for a major facilities decision, noting only about 36–50 people had completed the survey and urging direct outreach to the district’s seven municipalities and hard-copy distribution to reach seniors and residents without social-media access. He said: "only 50 people got did the survey that is that's nothing compared to what we need." The superintendent and facilities director agreed to schedule meetings with municipal leaders, provide hard copies, and coordinate outreach with the consultant who prepared the survey.
Facilities staff also said a driver-education RFP that had been delayed will be issued imminently (staff indicated an RFP would go out within a day or so) and that ESSA-related funding and partner contributions increased the available support, allowing the program to run into the spring and potentially to expand without charging students. The board discussed whether a modest student fee might improve student commitment; staff said the program would initially run as an after-school offering and would train district staff to run the course in subsequent years.
The board was also informed that the pool project has been postponed while other capital projects (boiler work, gym floors, track) proceed.
What’s next: Facilities director will coordinate municipality outreach, provide a timeline and report back to the board on survey response rates and RFP publication.
