Roseville board approves Fountain Elementary slide purchase, personnel moves and school travel

The Roseville Community Schools Board of Education, meeting April 20, 2026 at the district administration building, approved routine minutes and several consent items, including personnel recommendations, an overnight band trip and a facilities purchase.
Treasurer Matthew McCartney moved to approve the minutes of the April 6, 2026 regular meeting; Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice seconded the motion, which carried unanimously (6-0). Later the board approved a package of personnel recommendations that included the hire of Clark Sudney as Network Facilitator II, the release of probation for bus driver Rakeya Hall, and the resignation of Antoinette Hloros, a special education aide. The personnel slate also listed multiple summer positions and some rescinded summer assignments; the board approved the recommendations unanimously.
The board approved an overnight band trip for Roseville High School to Adrian College, Aug. 3–7, 2026, with faculty sponsor Daniel Chesher and a waiver of transportation fees. The motion to approve the student travel was moved by Matthew McCartney and supported by Joseph D. DeFelice; it passed 6-0.
On facilities, the board approved a request to purchase a replacement playground slide for Fountain Elementary from Game Time in the amount of $18,623.99, including installation. Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice moved the purchase, Michelle Williams-Ward supported the motion, and the board adopted it by roll call vote (AYES — Switanowski, DeFelice, McCartney, Aiuto, Brun, Williams-Ward).
The Business Office recommended approval of the General Fund warrant list for the month ending March 31, 2026; Trustee Denise Brun moved to approve the warrant list, Trustee Gina Aiuto supported the motion, and the board approved it by roll call vote (6-0).
The board opened two short public-hearing opportunities limited to business-agenda items; no public comments were offered. In comments near the end of the meeting Trustee Michelle Williams-Ward and Superintendent Mark Blaszkowski praised a recent Shrek performance and noted other district activities.
The board then voted to enter closed session to discuss negotiations; the motion to go into closed session was moved by Joseph D. DeFelice, supported by Denise Brun, and carried unanimously by roll call. The meeting adjourned at 8:31 p.m.
