Rothbury Village Council members voted unanimously on Feb. 17 to amend the 2025–2026 fiscal year budget, adding $85,000 to Capital Outlay under Police to fund a replacement patrol vehicle.
Police Chief Ethan Walker had reported during the monthly police update that the department’s oldest Tahoe is about 10 years old and is experiencing maintenance issues. During the public comment period, council members discussed lead time for ordering a new patrol vehicle and concluded it was preferable to place an order now rather than wait until the next fiscal year.
Council member Denise Kurdziel moved to amend the current fiscal-year budget; Mike Harris seconded. The motion passed 7 ayes, 0 nays. The motion text recorded in the minutes added $85,000 to Police Capital Outlay for the purpose of purchasing a new patrol vehicle. The minutes do not specify the funding source for the added appropriation.
Clerk Brandy Williams also reviewed the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2026–2027 and announced that the formal budget hearing will be held one hour before the next council meeting. The council’s action on Feb. 17 amends the current fiscal year budget; no additional appropriations or procurement details were included in the meeting minutes.
The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
