County auditor reports minor discrepancies in June post-election audit

The primary election had 14,117 ballots cast; the audit sampled 1,343 ballots, about 9.51% of the total, covering several contests and a city charter amendment.
The auditor reported the following findings: one ballot was recorded as an overvote on election night and the board could not locate that ballot; one unstamped ballot was later located during the audit and added to the tallies; a charter amendment was off by one vote in the audit tallies; both U.S. Representative contests reviewed in the audit showed no errors. "The post-election audit went very well," the auditor said, noting the small number of discrepancies and that no board action was required.
Commissioners asked general questions about turnout and procedure; the auditor estimated participation at about 30 percent countywide and confirmed no action was required of the board. The commission received the auditor's report for the record and moved to the next agenda item.
