North Fond du Lac trustees adopt 2026 utility appropriations, proclaim Arbor Day; hear pool-fence code change

The Village of North Fond du Lac Board of Trustees unanimously approved three resolutions appropriating operating funds for the Water, Wastewater and Storm Water utilities for 2026 and adopted a proclamation designating April 24, 2026 as Arbor Day.
Director of Public Works Mitch Vis briefed the board on the utilities’ 2026 budgets and recommended purchasing a new hydro-vac unit rather than a used model because of total-cost considerations; Trustee Mike Will asked staff to explore demo units before final procurement.
Trustee Gary Schaub moved approval of Resolution-01-2026, appropriating funds for the Water Utility; Trustee John Duffy seconded. The motion passed on a 5-0 vote. Trustee Chuck Hornung moved approval of Resolution-02-2026 for the Wastewater Utility, seconded by Duffy; that resolution likewise passed 5-0. Trustee Duffy moved approval of Resolution-03-2026 for the Storm Water Utility, seconded by Hornung, and the motion passed unanimously. The board then approved Resolution-04-2026, proclaiming Arbor Day in the village on April 24, 2026; the motion was moved by Trustee Schaub and seconded by Trustee Duffy and passed 5-0.
Administrator Nick Leonard presented Ordinance-2026-02 on first reading, an amendment to code section 21.12(7)(g) to permit mechanical covers for in-ground pools instead of the current requirement for a four-foot fence. Leonard said the Plan Commission recommended approval; the item advanced on first reading and will return for a subsequent reading.
The board adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
