Romeo Community Schools board moves into closed session over attorney–client privilege

President Rachel Eichhorst called the Romeo Community Schools Board of Education special meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2025. Katherine Rice moved to approve the meeting agenda; Boyer supported the motion and the board voted 6–0 to adopt the agenda.
The board then moved to the agenda item listed as “Closed Session – Attorney Client Privilege.” Board member Banach moved that the board enter a closed session for the purpose of attorney–client privilege; Antoine supported the motion. The board recessed into closed session at 5:02 p.m.; a roll call at that time recorded six members present and one member absent (Bowman arrived late). Todd Robinson, Jennifer McFarlane and John Gierak were noted as present for the closed session.
The board returned to open session at 5:55 p.m. after the closed session. Banach moved and Antoine supported the motion to reconvene in open session; the roll call then showed seven members present and the motion carried, 7–0. Shortly afterward the board voted to adjourn; Banach moved, Antoine supported, and the meeting adjourned at 6:01 p.m.
The meeting record indicates the minutes/documentation were approved by Secretary Katherine Rice.
