The RSU 18 school board unanimously approved a new visual and performing arts curriculum after the programming committee presented its work.
Michelle, a committee member, summarized a year-long curriculum review and introduced a six-minute video showing program highlights. "The work started in October ... they shared the tweaks that they made to make it better serve the needs of the students," Michelle said during the committee report. After the presentation, a trustee moved to accept the curriculum and the board voted in favor.
The committee said the review included representation from across the district and stressed continuity between pre-K and secondary levels. Board members thanked the committee and attendees for the presentation and noted the curriculum aligned with student needs and current instructional goals.
The board recorded the vote as unanimous. The curriculum will be returned to the agenda for any remaining implementation steps and the administration will proceed with rollout details at the direction of the committee and district staff.
