Fire Chief Dan Mercure told the Rockwood City Council on June 17 that the department will list its old fire engine for sale and expects proceeds in the range of $12,000 to $17,000. He said staff will list the vehicle on a sales website and Council member Robertson suggested retaining the truck for visual displays at city events.
Chief Mercure also said the department is transitioning its radios to the state DMA system and that regional grants are being pursued to replace radios that are about 20 years old. Finally, he reported that paperwork for a new firetruck has been submitted for review and that the council has given verbal approval for the purchase; no appropriation or formal contract was recorded on the meeting agenda.
The council recorded the departmental update in its minutes; no public comment opposed the plan during the session. Staff follow‑up will be required to complete the sale and to return with any budgetary requests for new equipment.
