BPAC approves draft fiscal year 2026–27 work plan; will forward recommendations to council

The Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee approved its draft fiscal year 2026–27 work plan after staff outlined how BPAC suggestions were incorporated into a concise agenda for the year.
Staff noted requests submitted by committee members had been folded into the work plan as general items where staff could not confirm exact timing. The plan includes an evaluation of a no‑right‑on‑red policy as part of active transportation policy implementation; exploration of bike parking ordinance updates; development of a Safe Routes‑to‑School program; and improved project‑tracking dashboards and volunteer opportunities.
Committee members discussed priorities and the limits of staff resources for new initiatives; staff said several items could be supported by existing county public‑health convenings or folded into city project updates. A motion to approve the draft 2026–27 work plan passed unanimously with the three members present.
The draft work plan will be forwarded to City Council as the BPAC’s recommendation for incorporation into the city’s committee work program and capital planning processes.
