Cheryl Gibson told the committee the inside of the park could not be traversed end to end and noted there were only two waste deposits placed in the inside park bins over the past two weeks. Following her recommendation, members voted to close the park and directed immediate steps to secure the site.
Betsy Cieplicki was assigned to post closure notices on Front Porch Forum, Shelburne News and the town website, to arrange for a chain on the front gate and to notify Duffy’s Trash to stop servicing the park. The committee also recorded that the Shelburne Parks and Recreation Department paid for tree removal at the site this month for about $600 (amount described in the meeting as approximate).
The committee’s financial update listed the dog park account balance as $2,051.67, with no revenues reported since the prior meeting; the balance figure was reported as of April 13, 2026 during the June 29 meeting.
No formal mover or second for the closure was recorded in the minutes; the record states the committee “unanimously agreed” to the closure.
