Luna Pier council adopts Master Plan, appoints Donna Vance and approves copier lease; assessing contract tabled

The Luna Pier City Council at its June 12 regular meeting adopted the city's Master Plan (Resolution No. 979), appointed Donna Vance to the Luna Pier Housing Commission for a five-year term expiring Jan. 15, 2030, approved a five-year lease for a Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX C3930i copier with Applied Innovation, and approved budget amendments.

Joy Perry moved to appoint Donna Vance to the Housing Commission; the motion carried unanimously. The council approved the five-year copier lease with Applied Innovation on a roll-call vote, all in favor. A proposed five-year contract with Renius & Renius for assessing services was introduced but the mover and seconder withdrew their support; the council then voted to table the Renius & Renius contract. Wakeman moved and Boslooper seconded approval of budget amendments, and the motion carried on a roll-call vote with all members voting in favor.

Council also approved Bills Warrant #14225 (paid) in the amount of $49,015.41 and Bills Warrant #14226 (unpaid) in the amount of $2,130.07. Several operational and community items were discussed during council input: Szkatulski raised concerns about oversized bounce houses at Water Tower Park Hall and asked the clerk to research size limits; Perry said the Mounted Police would not attend the Freedom Festival and that Dukes Farm will provide a petting zoo; Neiding praised a recent Erie Road tire cleanup and proposed an Erie Road Committee. City Attorney Phil Goldsmith requested a meeting with the Mayor, the Building/Zoning Inspector and Councilmember Wakeman to review the Blight Ordinance and needed enforcement mechanisms.
