The Luna Pier City Council voted May 22 to approve Resolution No. 978, authorizing a Category B Program funding request for $105,450 to rehabilitate Gaynier Road.
Neil Wakeman moved to approve the resolution and Joy Perry seconded; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with all councilmembers voting in favor. City staff representative Chris Hennessy explained the Category B grant is intended for cities and villages with populations under 10,000, would cover 50% of construction costs if the application is awarded, and that applications are due June 12 with awards announced in September.
The resolution authorizes staff to submit the grant application and, if awarded, to proceed with the local share and construction planning. No appropriation for construction was adopted at the meeting; the council approved only the application request.
