LUNA PIER, Mich. — The Luna Pier City Council approved two bills warrants totaling $92,723.44 and confirmed a mayoral treasurer appointment during its regular meeting on May 8.
Councilmember Joy Perry moved, supported by Diana Szkatulski, to approve Bill’s Warrant #14221 (paid) for $22,860.44 and Bill’s Warrant #14222 (unpaid) for $69,863.00. The motion carried on a roll-call vote with all present members voting in favor; Councilmember Neil Wakeman was excused absent.
The council also approved Mayor James Gardner’s recommendation to appoint Kelli Huff as Treasurer, with Councilmember Amanda Neiding moving and Councilmember Duy Hoang seconding the motion. Huff’s start date is May 12, 2025, pending completion of a background check. Councilmember Diana Szkatulski asked that council be more involved in future staff interviews.
Mayor Gardner noted the Budget Amendments would require additional adjustments and were not ready for a vote. The council announced a Planning Commission public hearing on the Master Plan for May 27 and listed several upcoming committee meetings. The meeting adjourned at 8:48 p.m.
