Committee members noted they previously signed a letter to state leaders supporting a correction and emphasized the need for clearer internal communication so families understand possible consequences for staffing, special education and support services. They agreed that waiting until town meetings would be too late and directed staff to draft and distribute a communication to families early in the new year that explains the problem, consequences, and provides contact information for state officials who can influence change.
Committee members reiterated that the district cannot change state policy but can prepare the community and advocate through appropriate channels.
