Chad Carpenter, staff member for the Hoosac Valley Regional School District Maintenance Subcommittee, told members on Nov. 24 that roof repairs at both schools have been completed recently and that the district is preparing for a potential capital application window expected from the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) in Fall 2026.
Carpenter reported that Tech Roofing has been working on the Hoosac Valley High School auditorium and that Titan repaired several down drains at the resource center and along the high school hallway toward the cafeteria. At the elementary school, Carpenter said Titan repaired slate roofs on the auditorium and gym, repaired down drains and addressed a roof section near the nearby McDonalds.
The subcommittee discussed the MSBA accelerated repair program timeline and noted that the agency is expected to release additional information in Fall 2026. Members said they will need to coordinate a formal statement of interest with the towns that the district serves if the program aligns with district needs.
Why it matters: Roof work affects building safety and the district’s timeline for larger capital projects. If the district pursues MSBA assistance, a statement of interest and subsequent steps could trigger eligibility for state funding and a multiyear planning process.
What’s next: The committee will monitor the MSBA release in Fall 2026 and plan follow-up coordination with municipal officials about any statement of interest and next steps toward a possible roof project.
