Committee delays strategic retreat, hears superintendent contract update and records member resignation

The Hoosac Valley Regional School Committee voted Sept. 15 to postpone a planned strategic-planning retreat after members said materials had not been shared and a location had not been secured. Fred Lora moved to postpone the retreat; Tracey Tierney seconded. The motion passed with five in favor and one abstention from Andy Przystanski.
Under unfinished business, Adam Emerson said that Erin Milne and legal counsel were in possession of proposals from the Superintendent as part of the contract process; Emerson outlined the steps the committee will follow to consider and approve the superintendent’s contract. No formal contract action occurred at the meeting.
During the 'for the good of the order' portion, committee member Andy Przystanski announced his resignation, saying family and workplace commitments prevented him from giving full attention to the role. John Duval and other members thanked Przystanski for his service. The meeting adjourned at 8:28 p.m. on a unanimous vote.
