Hinsdale Library reports new hire, programs and fundraiser plans; board to begin director search advertising

Interim Director Sarah Welch’s Director’s Report, recorded in the April 7 minutes, lists several near‑term operational items: the hiring of Stacey Whitney, the start of bi‑weekly story hours, a planned movie night and a future author talk, and that the director has secured cleaning quotes. On recruitment for a new library director, Tom Butler reported having made calls and said a state contact identified only as "Jennifer" advised that communities under 10,000 population follow a particular hiring expectation and that the director should hold a bachelor’s degree; the minutes do not identify 'Jennifer' further nor provide the underlying policy citation. The board agreed to post the vacancy on the Hinsdale website and to distribute broader advertising; they also noted checking whether a community member named Sherry might be interested. Strategic planning was deferred to the next meeting.
