DPW outlines New Windsor Road culvert options, plans closures for muddy Buttermilk Road

DPW Superintendent Jamie Callahan told the Select Board on March 11 that the department has received a proposal for New Windsor Road presenting five options, and that one culvert option is estimated to cost approximately $650,000.
Callahan said crews have patched many of the town’s potholes and filled the majority of large craters, and that the town received a renewed water-management permit. He reported complaints about muddy conditions on Buttermilk Road and said the department plans to place road-closure signs for through traffic where Buttermilk Road meets Route 8.
Callahan also said the town’s plant needs new flow sensors so staff can better determine sources of water flow, and that the DPW is waiting to hear from the state about whether it will receive a new loader. The Select Board’s minutes record these operational items but show no formal vote or funding decision at the March 11 meeting.
