Reed City’s council voted Sept. 8 to approve payment of $1,370,535.00 in bills and a string of public-works contracts and change orders, including multiple items tied to ongoing construction work in the city.
The council approved paying bills after a motion by James Anderlohr, seconded by Brad Nixon; Anderlohr, Nixon, Nicole Woodside, Mayor Roger Meinert and Trevor Guiles voted yes. The meeting minutes list the approved total as $1,370,535.00.
Council also approved Gerber Construction’s 855455-1 Change Order 07 for $30,720 (motion by Brad Nixon; second by James Anderlohr), Fleis & VandenBrink engineering Amendment 2 for $6,100 (motion by James Anderlohr; second by Nicole Woodside), and Fleis & VandenBrink Amendment 3 (855450) for $22,000 (motion by Trevor Guiles; second by James Anderlohr). All three measures passed on roll call votes with the members present voting in favor.
Public-works procurement approved at the meeting included a DPW road salt purchase through MIdeal for $40,890, and a Road Milling and Paving contract with Reith & Riley for $106,500 to be added to the 2025–2026 budget. The milling and paving motion passed on roll call with votes recorded in favor from Mayor Meinert, Nicole Woodside, James Anderlohr, Trevor Guiles and Brad Nixon.
The council approved Haviland’s bid for bulk ferric chloride for the wastewater treatment plant at $1,128 per dry ton, and approved Pro-Comm’s bid to retrofit lighting on Engine 621 at an amount not to exceed $15,000. Both bids passed with roll call votes in favor.
On construction payments, the council approved Gerber pay application #1 for contract 864440 in the amount of $235,283.57 (motion by Trevor Guiles; second by James Anderlohr). The roll call vote recorded Guiles, Nixon, Woodside, Anderlohr and Meinert voting yes.
